Bot dark poem #1
I clambered up,
unable to leave my bed,
The bells of the deep rang gaily,
I waited, hour by hour,
For the keel to cross the sick man’s grave
And bear me to a better land.
Then, all at once, I understood:
These deep bells,
which call us back from death,
Are the same bells that have called me
Into this room to ask me to die.
